Flood Stories

The purpose of this 'blog' is to have a place for those who wish, to share their flood stories and needs. If you wish you can send photos to pegenereux@msn.com in .jpg format and I will upload them to the blog.

CEDAR FALLS...
As most of you know Cedar Falls downtown dogged a huge bullet with huge turnout of volunteers to build the levee 3 feet higher, Tuesday people were lined along the river as far as the eye could see passing bags. Those of us older folk were filling and tying bags! Today some of us are going to Waterloo where the need for volunteers seems to be constant. We will all get water in our basements but at this point we are relieved that this will be all that we have to deal with in comparison to what might have been.

WAVERLY is in cleanup mode.....water was about 6 feet from church so that is much more water than expected. Three families have been impacted greatly but are safe. We are all bracing for more surge Saturday but it won't be as high as what is just passing. Downstream you are in our prayers as are those who were hit by tornado last night. Peace and thank you all for your calls, support and prayer. Maureen

WATERLOO...

Dear Friends,
Well... Waterloo seems to be getting bad now too. Two parishioners homes are completely flooded. They will lose everything in their basement and most of the stuff on their first floor. One of the church employee's home is also now a total loss. The church is far enough away from the river that it is okay. We will be organizing work crews to help with homes as soon as the rain stops. There are also numerous places to volunteer. If you have the time please come help. The wet weekend does not look to great. My prayers are with everyone who lives along the river.
peace,
Mitch
